When ChatGPT abruptly went down for a segment of users on Tuesday, the interruption lasted only a short while – yet the reaction across the tech ecosystem was anything but minor. In an era where artificial intelligence functions more like public infrastructure than a consumer app, even a momentary outage becomes a signal event.
